Arby’s has been making some meaty moves in recent months. They came out of the woods and released a venison sandwich. Click here to read up about what a success that was. They may be topping that move, though, as they’re on the brink of releasing something that’s, essentially, ancient. Modern sandwiches move aside. Arby’s new porchetta sandwich is the definition of meat.
You won’t be eating ancient food when you order Arby’s Italian porchetta sandwich. Don’t worry about things being hundreds of year stale.
However, this meaty marvel is inspired by fast food in 15th-century Umbria. Known as Italy’s green heart, Umbria is no stranger to grab-and-go pork sandwiches. They’ve been eating them for centuries.
This isn’t any roast pork, though. Vegans beware. It’s pork loin wrapped in pork belly, and that pork belly still has the skin. The meats are smoked for eight hours, but we bet you’ll be able to eat this sandwich in a fraction of that time.
If the venison sandwich was any indicator, Arby’s locations may sell out in a fraction of time, too. Some locations saw the venison sandwich sell out within fifteen minutes. Can the same happen with the porchetta sandwich?

None of that sounds bad to us. We’re already imagining the roasted garlic aioli and red wine vinaigrette perfectly complementing the smoked Italian porchetta. Strong flavors like red onion and banana peppers, too? Why not. We’re all in.
