Say adios to Básico. Mixson Club has announced a new chef and concept for the restaurant space.
According to a release sent to Mixson Club members this weekend, the restaurant that has anchored the one-time self-proclaimed “hip and highfalutin'” private club will soon shift this week from Mexican food to classic American grill menu.
“We will be launching a new menu. This menu will incorporate a variety of salads, burgers, sandwiches, and fresh local seafood,” the release says.
To lead the change, Mixson has hired Chef Owen Gaube who you may remember from the forerunner to Park Cafe, Granville’s. Gaube graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 1999 then worked for Ken Vedrinski at Trattoria Lucca and Coda del Pesce. He moves to the club from Porch Cafe at I’On Club.
Original restaurant proprietor Bryan Lewis sold Básico and Mixson Market to Front Door Communities in April. Since then, Front Door has been making incremental changes — perhaps you’ve noticed a new paint job. The changes continue this week as Front Door closes the restaurant today through Friday when it will reopen with a new menu.
