VEVA 8000 Elite Pro Series Air Purifier
Why we like it: Very chic appearance, and effective against allergens.
Okay, so if you first thought this was some sort of speaker, don’t worry, we did it too. Honestly looking at it at first glance, that’s what it looks like, but in a good way. You could easily keep it in a room, and it’s not at all bulky or out of place. In fact, it will fit quite nicely and effortlessly in a corner. Might we add, we found its 4 premium activated carbon filters quite impressive, because they’re what helps get rid of not just allergens, but also smoke, dust and odors to name a few.
For around $80, we thought this was totally worth it, especially as it comes with a guarantee of capturing 99.97% of contaminants in the air. These can be as little as .3 microns, a unit of measurement you’ll have to get used to if you want to identify the best air purifiers. Mold spores, bacteria, and germs are all efficiently taken care of, and we loved that it comes with a 2-year warranty, as well as lifetime support from the company, VEVA.
Biota Bot #MM108 Desktop Air Purifier
Why we like it: You can have one at work! It’s a desktop air purifier!
This one looks quite… futuristic actually, with all its sleek buttons neatly arranged on top of a compact, well-designed body. They use something called True HEPA filtration, which means that it can effectively get rid of pollen, allergens and other airborne contaminants. If you or anyone in your family is prone to allergies, wheezing or asthma, this can be incredibly handy, especially since you can pretty much prop it up anywhere.
Also complete with an activated carbon charcoal filter that helps get rid of even the most stubborn odors, this air purifier is medical grade. Aside from being lightweight which in turn makes it portable and thus even more convenient, they’ve integrated a Smart Sensor Technology which is responsible for basically controlling the 2 fan speeds. Best of all, this allows it to assess the quality of the air accordingly and includes a 2-4-8 hour timer. A very important note to bear in mind: always use authentic biota bot replacement filters.
Alen BreatheSmart Customizable Air Purifier
Why we like it: The sheer range of colors is good enough for us actually…
Okay so, when we said earlier that air purifiers had gotten quite modern, we’re not sure even we were prepared for this. Alen air purifiers come in a dizzying array of shades, that could pretty much fit any kind of theme. You just need to take your pick or even mix-‘n-match. This particular one is the Smart Silver, 1-Pack, and features quite a neutral hue. Plus, they even offer you a great deal: if you get a customized asthma filter installed, you get another at half price. So if you need to address this issue, you get to save some bucks.
It also has two (what the industry knows as) HEPA filters, and interestingly, something they call ‘pink noise’, which aims at drowning out any surrounding noise as you sleep, with its own mellow, soothing sound. Its SmartSensor feature also means that it can deduce the air quality, and then respond accordingly. There’s very little for you to do actually. Other than buying it of course. Oh, and it can also cover up to 1,100sqft, which we think is very efficient for something so seemingly unassuming.
GermGuardian 3-in-1 Air Purifier
Why we like it: You know our love of several functionalities in one don’t you?
Another chic, sophisticated version of the once humble air purifier, courtesy of GermGuardian. Which is a very straightforward name if you ask us. So, this gem is 22 inches tall and includes three speeds in its tower. It works best for medium-sized rooms, though two should be fine for large rooms. Eliminate odors from pets, cooking or smoking, or all three, thanks to their integrated charcoal filter as well.
This one’s also another we thought was quite evolved because it uses UV-C light technology and Titanium Dioxide in a special combination that helps target bacteria, germs, and viruses that are typically airborne. So if you have a baby in the house and are worried about any contaminants, this could be a great option for your peace of mind. Plus, there’s an indicator to let you know when you need to change the filter, while the 3-year warranty ensures any issues are immediately taken care of.
Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover
Why we like it: Specially designed for larger rooms.
So far, we’ve looked at a few air purifiers, but they’ve been mainly suited for small-medium rooms. Which is why when we came across the Honeywell air purifier and saw that it was for larger rooms, we knew what we had to do. And voila, we present to you all of its features, including the fact that it even includes four different cleaning levels. They are Germ, General Clean, Allergen, and Turbo. You can also control it accordingly, even when you’re not at home, by setting its shutoff time to 2, 4 or 8 hours.
Additionally, we really liked that when used in a recommended setting, this purifier had the ability to circulate air up to 5 times every hour in a given room, which means that it’s quite an efficient little gadget. It’d also be perfect for getting rid of particularly musty spaces, where odors can linger longer than usual. If you do want to ensure it lasts long though, be sure to replace its air filters with nothing else, but original filters from the brand.
Levoit Air Purifier Filtration
Why we like it: Aside from the very fancy, Frenchy name? Very unique.
Well definitely in appearance at least. Functionality-wise, it does pack in a punch but offers all of the qualities a modern-day air purifier does. For instance, it’s got a genuine HEPA filter and wipes out allergens, odors and the like as well. But, what makes it stand out, in particular, is that it’s also a night light! So you can just set this up on your bedside table perhaps or even on the floor near the bed so you have easy access to a light if needed.
We were especially impressed to see that it also includes a 3-stage filtration system, which in turn made us think that it’s actually really good for people with high sensitivity, as it thoroughly cleans out the air, again and again. The filtration stages are known as pre-filter, HEPA filter, and activated carbon filter. You can also choose from three different settings, low, medium and high (very easy to remember), and work through different climatic conditions. You also have two brightness settings for the night light, and it’s super quiet so you won’t hear a hum at night while you sleep.
PureZone 3-in-1 True HEPA Air Purifier
Why we like it: 3 speeds, quiet and UV-C technology.
The PureZone air purifier is not exactly bulky, but it’s also not as slim as some of the others featured here, but that doesn’t mean it looks bad in any way. On the contrary, it’s very elegant and has a compact lightweight design that makes it suited for use anywhere. It also comes with power-saving capabilities, and the touch-button technology is super sensitive too. You don’t need to fuss with this one at all, it’s easy to use, convenient, and simply efficient.
What we love about this one mainly, is that it not only fends off odors, allergens, pet dander and smoke, it also destroys bacteria and germs around. This is thanks to the UV-C light technology it makes use of, which cuts through germs, bacteria, and other airborne viruses and contaminants. For a cleaner, healthier home, this air purifier is a vital tool. Also place in baby’s room without worry, as its silent operation means you won’t even know it’s there after a while.
Blue Pure 211+ Air Purifier
Why we like it: They’ve got air purifiers in large and extra-large sizes.
This isn’t exactly the most discreet air purifier around, but it’s definitely useful for big spaces. They not only have this in large but also in extra-large. As far as costs go, this one’s a lot pricier than the other options on this list so far, with the large air purifier amounting to around $250. But, it’s also more effective than most, with the ability to get rid of 99% of contaminants, as opposed to 99.7% which most of these are.
This also includes an activated carbon filter, which as you know by now gets rid of all common household pestilences such as unpleasant odors and allergens. What really caught our attention though, was that aside from the noiseless operation it also has an Energy Star rating so you can be sure of the best energy consumption. Plus, it comes with three fan speeds, for even more targeted cleaning of large rooms.
KOIOS Desktop Air Purifier with True HEPA Filter
Why we like it: Another air purifier you can conveniently perch on your desk.
Clean air is so important, especially if you work in an office. Windows and doors aren’t generally left open in the office because of air-conditioning, which means that nature can’t do its job of wiping out germs and bacteria lingering about in the air. This is why most of us tend to catch illnesses through viruses that are usually stagnated in the environment. Well, with one of these desktop air purifiers, you’ll be able to ensure you at least contribute in some way to keeping it cleaning and hygienic.
We also loved how easy it was to use. Just one button turns it on and off and controls the fan speed as well. It’s also great to carry around on family trips, especially if any of you are typically sensitive. It’s small and compact as well, and what’s more, consumes less energy than other air purifiers, whilst also being low noise. Needless to say, its the perfect desk companion at the office. The multi-layer filter system helps circulate air effectively, so you’re assured of clean air throughout. They even offer a full year’s warranty for added security.
OION B-1000 Permanent Filter Ionic Air Purifier
Why we like it: Affordable, effective and looks great too.
For around $50, you get to buy this superior air purifier, for much lower than normal market prices. Since it comes with UV-C sanitizer and pro ionizer, it’s also up there as far as functionality goes. What’s especially noteworthy is that the Electrostatic Ionizer Purification feature removes pollutants that can be up to 0.1 microns, for a very thorough clean. This too is very quiet when in use, and conveniently comes with a night light.
Another reason we decided to feature this here, is because its UVGI technology also ensures it kills off any bacteria and germs present in the air, guaranteeing high air quality. If you live in polluted city areas, this can be especially useful. Since this is affordable as well, we thought it’d be great if you’re looking for an air purifier on a budget.
